ไม้ล้มลุก สูงถึง 1 เมตร ลำต้นและกิ่งก้านมีระยางค์ แผ่เป็น ปีกแคบๆ ใบ เดี่ยว รูปไข่ถึงรูปรี กว้าง 0.5-5 ซม. ยาว 3-9 ซม. ผิวใบ มีขนทั้งสองด้าน ก้านใบสั้นหรือไม่มี ดอก สีเหลือง ออกเป็นช่อ มี 2-3 ดอก ยาว 5-10 ซม. มีขนปกคลุม ดอกย่อยรูปดอกถั่ว ขนาดบาน เต็มที่ 1-1.5 ซม. กลีบรองดอก 5 กลีบ มีขนแน่น กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ กลีบบนแผ่รูปรี กลีบข้างรูปขอบขนานแกมรูปไข่กลับ กลีบล่าง รูปท้องเรือ ปลายเป็นจงอย เกสรผู้เป็นมัด 10 อัน รังไข่รูปขอบขนาน ผิวเกลี้ยง ผล เป็นฝักทรงกระบอก โป่งพอง กว้าง 0.8 ซม. ยาว 3-4 ซม. เกลี้ยง ผลแก่แล้วแตก เมล็ด ขนาดเล็ก

Undershrub, up to 1 m high; stem and branches winged by decurrent stipules. Leaves simple, elliptic to ovate, 3-9 cm long by 0.5-5 cm wide, pubescent on both surfaces; petiole sessile or very short. Inflorescence short raceme, 2-3 flowered, 5-10 cm long. Flowers yellow, pea-shaped, 1-1.5 cm across; calyx 5, densely hairy; corolla 5, standard broadly elliptic, wings oblong to obovate-oblong, keel curved and beaked; stamens 10, monadelphous; ovary oblong, glabrous. Pod oblong, inflated, 3-4 cm long, ca 0.8 cm wide, glabrous dehiscent. Seeds many, small.

พบทั่วไปในเขตร้อนของทวีป เอเชียและทวีปแอฟริกา ตามทุ่งหญ้าและชายป่า ที่ระดับความสูงถึง 1,500 เมตร ออกดอกและติดฝักเดือนมีนาคม-มิถุนายน

Common in tropical Asia and Africa, in open grasslands and the edges of forests, up to elevations of 1,500 m. Flowering and fruiting from March to June.

ทั้งต้นใช้ทำปุ๋ยพืชสดได้ดี และต้มน้ำอาบ แก้อักเสบฟกช้ำ บวม

The whole plant is good as a fertilizer; boiled in water for bathing it is able to relief the pain of sprains and reduce swelling.
