ลักษณะ :

ไม้ล้มลุก สูงได้ถึง 1.5 เมตร ใบ เดี่ยว เรียงตรงข้ามกัน รูปหอก กว้าง 2.5-6 ซม. ยาว 8-14 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบสอบ ดอก สีชมพูหรืออมม่วง ออกเป็นช่อจากซอกใบหรือปลายยอด ดอกย่อยบานเต็มที่ กว้าง 2.5-3.5 ซม. กลีบรองดอกเชื่อมกันเป็นหลอด ปลายแยกเป็น 5 แฉก กลีบดอกโคนเชื่อมกัน ปลายกลีบแยก เป็นสองปาก เกสรผู้ 2 อัน ผล เป็นฝักรูปกระสวย ยาวประมาณ 1.5 ซม. แก่แล้วแตก เมล็ดขนาดเล็ก รูปไข่แบน

Characteristics :

Perennial herb, up to 1.5 m high. Leaves simple, opposite, lanceolate, 8-14 cm long by 2.5-6 cm wide; base cuneate; apex acuminate. Inflorescence axillary and terminal raceme. Flowers pink to purplish-pink, 2.5-3.5 cm across; calyx 5, united at base; corolla bilabiate; stamens 2. Fruit capsule, spindle shaped, ca 1.5 cm long, dehiscent. Seeds small, depressed ovoid.

อินเดีย เมียนม่าห์ ประเทศไทย พบบริเวณภาคเหนือ ตามชายป่าดิบและที่ชื้น ออกดอกช่วงเดือน พฤศจิกายน-กุมภาพันธ์

Distribution :

India and Myanmar. In Thailand, found in the northern region by the edge of evergreen forests and moist areas. Flowering from November to February.

Uses and Utilization :

The root ground with 28% alcohol is used for tongue-paste and treatment of chronic gastro-intestinal ailments in children. Beautiful flowers popularly cultivated as ornamental plants.
